Stress

My friend, Fred, who is really named Alysa, who calls me Fred, although my real name is Juliana, called me this week. She asked me a thought-provoking question:

"How do you not kill yourself with stress?"

Huh. Good question. I wished I had a good answer. Thinking about it inspired last week's post about how I love music. Music is relaxing. So is blogging.

What do you do to not kill yourself with stress? Please share. :)

  1. We have a big punching bag in our basement so on bad days I plug in my Ipod and pound it out for some stress relief and a good workout :) Either that or head to the refrigerator!

  2. I read my latest book or go run on the treadmill. If Kirk is home I'll turn the kids over to him for a bit while I go take a hot shower. Blogging helps too!

  3. I write fiction. The reason I lvoe writing, and I think many people who write love it is beacuse you can comepltly control the situations. If you want to kill someone, kill them, you have no liabilty, and if later on you are in a better mood and regret your decesion, no problem, bring them back to life in the next draft.

    It's awesome.
You can make characters you admire and have them do stupid things, you can have stupid characters and have them do honorable things, you can write about life with no kids, you can write about life as being rich, or poor, or having magic, or living in a perputally clean home. There is nothign that allows you more contorl than writing fiction. I love it!

  4. I'm actually writing this from beyond the grave. I guess I haven't figured it out yet...

I guess my main stress relievers are taking photographs, reading, watching movies, working out helps too. I think for me, the key is to be aware of my stress levels. I mean, if I am blissfully unaware of my stress level, suddenly I erupt and I can't figure out why. However, if I am able to keep tabs on it, than I can do the things that help me blow off steam well before I reach that danger zone.
